I was a pilot in the United States Air Force and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in May of 2016 after 25 years of service. I served 12 of those years at Offutt Air Force Base in Bellevue and lived in the Papillion School district. My family has made this community our home.
Currently I am the Flight Training Coordinator for the University of Nebraska at Omaha Aviation Institute. I instruct pilot certification courses, mentor and supervise the flight students and manage the contract flight instructors. Additionally, I have been tasked with continuing to improve the safety, quality, competence, and professionalism of UNO flight students.
My wife Sherry and I are the proud parents of three children. Nick and Beth are 21 year-old twins who are in their junior years of college and are graduates of Papillion LaVista South High School. Tori is a junior at Papillion LaVista South High School.
Sherry is in her 9th year of teaching and is currently a second grade teacher at Carriage Hill Elementary.
Check out this great article about my career: http://www.townepost.com/indiana/noblesville/flying-high-2/
It's all about the students. There are over 11,600 students being educated in the 2017-2018 school year. That number will increase each year
I have a bachelor’s degree in Public Affairs with a concentration in Criminal Justice from Indiana University and a master’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of South Carolina.
I taught pilots how to fly in the Air Force, I taught ROTC at Kent State University in Ohio, and I currently teach Aviation at UNO
I have a great admiration for our teachers and school administrators as they strive to teach, balance budgets, manage human resources, implement policies, run our schools, and make curricular decisions.
I want to serve my community and through my educational background and career, serving as a member of the Papillion LaVista School Board is the prefect way to continue that service.
I will work as a member of a team with other board members and adminitrators to:
Provide the most up to date facilities
Attract and retain the best teachers available
Ensure we have the best resources and most current curriculum
Provide productive post-high school planning and counseling
Practice fiscal responsibility and planning with tax payer dollars
I echo the values and beliefs listed on the Papillion LaVista Community Schools website:
I will be a positive voice and a positive force for Papillion LaVista Community Schools.
